Is your house more than 25 years old in Claremont?

It's recommended you completely rewire your home every 30 years, or sooner if one or more warning signs is present.

If you’re looking at rewiring your home, one of the biggest factors is the cost. Rewiring a home is not cheap. But it’s essential for the safety of your family.  After all, more than 40% of residential fires in Australia are associated with electrical faults or failures caused by degraded wiring or overloading the system.

PELLE Electrical Services are experienced in house re-wiring in Perth. Our qualified electricians can conduct the work with as little disruption to you as possible.

Updated electrical wiring improves the value of your property, as functional modern wiring is essential for any new homeowner. By having your property properly rewired, the value will increase

What does a house re-wire involve?

At the very least, rewiring a house means removing the old wires and replacing them with newer ones. It's likely that there may be other upgrades too, like replacing sockets and installing new power points. Wiring is often difficult to access and we may have to run wiring through difficult areas.

Luckily, nowadays, you don't need to tear down your walls just to rewire your house. Our electricians use a crawlspace to access the wiring system behind the walls. So, if you plan on conducting a DIY rewiring process, consider hiring someone professional.

  1. Electrical cables are replaced, and a new consumer unit is installed.
  2. New cabling is fitted into the walls and beneath the floors.
  3. Back boxes on all switches and sockets are replaced with new back boxes.
  4. Power and lighting circuits are rewired.
  5. Telephone and tv aerial sockets are rewired.

Can you re-wire a home room by room?

A skilled electrician will be able to undertake the task of rewiring a single circuit or just one room. A partial rewire might be necessary if one circuit is damaged and making that circuit electrically unsafe. You can do this but it will cost more per room and connecting new wiring to old wiring is not recommended.

Do you need to redecorate after rewiring?

There is likely to be a lot of dust in the air while the work is being carried out and for a few days after the job has been completed. Some redecorating will be required after the job is complete too.

How do I prepare my house for rewiring?

Remove all you can, such as any carpets or old furniture from the previous owner, because wires will run underneath floors, walls, across ceiling. Electricians will need to lift floorboard and cut into ceilings to get the wires in safely. Plaster will need to be cut into in order to install new switches and sockets.
